Top Famous Designer Clothing Every Year

It’s a common misconception that designer clothes are only for celebrities and the wealthy. In fact, many of the world’s top famous designers started their careers as outsiders who wanted to create clothing for everyone not just those with deep pockets. The following list features some of our favorite designers from across the globe who have been producing high-quality clothing since before you were born.

First Famous Designer Clothes is Comme des Garcons a Japanese fashion house founded by Rei Kawakubo in 1969. The company is known for its avant-garde designs and has been credited with pioneering the now popular Japanese street fashion movement.

Comme des Garcon (which means ‘like boys’ in French) was founded in Tokyo, Japan on October 1968 by designer Rei Kawakubo and her collaborator, artist Yohji Yamamoto. It was originally named Comme il faut (“as it should be”) but they changed it when they realized that this could be interpreted as “Come Here” instead of “Like This”. In 1972 they opened their first store on Omotesando Hills avenue near Harajuku station; a second location opened there two years later. In 1974 he co-founded Gansai Tokyo Co., Ltd., a retail company with his friend Junya Watanabe; both would eventually become directors at Comme des Garcons Co., Ltd.

Next Famous Designer Clothes is Chanel a French fashion house founded in 1909 by Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel. The House of Chanel is known for its luxury fabrics, jewelry, and perfumes. Chanel’s fashion designs have been influenced by the post-war bohemian spirit of the 1920s and 1930s as well as the traditional French style from Napoleon III’s Second Empire (1852 – 1870). Chanel is a privately held company owned by Alain and Gerard Wertheimer, grandsons of Pierre Wertheimer, who was an early business partner of Coco Chanel. Its products cover clothes, fragrances, handbags, and watches. The brand is most famous for its “little black dress”, the Chanel No. 5 perfume, and the Chanel Suit.
